pose of the week: revolved lunge

Happy Easter long weekend yogis! We hope you had a wonderful weekend and took some well needed time off from your everyday duties. As the season changes it can be such a powerful time to check in with ourselves. Are there any bad habits or thoughts that you can ditch this week along with the cooler weather and winter boots? Let's use the season changing as an opportunity to build in more beneficial habits. Two of our favourites are yoga (DUH!) and meditation :) What do you want to do more or less of this season?

Let's move on to our pose of the week...

this week we are staying in the lunge family but we've added in a little twist.....literally we are now lunging with a twist - hehe! There are no hidden messages here. It's time to give into the juicy details for our Revolved Lunge, which is also known as a Twisted Lunge:

Here's the audio for you to follow along with now:

Have an amazing week!

pose of the week: seated prayer twist

Helloooooo yogis welcome to day 1 of Spring and week 12 of our yoga journey :) How did your humble warrior practice go this past week? Were you able to overcome any fear you had of folding forward with your hands behind your back?

Last week we chatted about the correlation with the seasons of the year and the different chapters of our life, how throughout the year as we move into different seasons, it's a great reminder to check in with your own well-being. We hope you set aside time for yourself last week and gave your heart the space it needed to let go of anything and everything that no longer serves you.

This week we are moving onto a posture that will help you build strength in your lower body while opening up your chest and hips. Let's jump into all the fine details for the pose of the week:

Don't forget about the audio instructions below to help guide you through the pose safely:

Have a lovely week!

pose of the week: humble warrior

Happy Spring Forward, yogis!! We hope you are all enjoying an extra hour of sunshine today and in the weeks to come. As we move into a different season of the year, we are often ready to grow into a new season of our own. Have you been holding on to any pain, doubt or fear? Now is the perfect time to let that GO and let yourself GROW. Take some time to reflect this week and ask yourself the question "am I holding on to anything that no longer serves me?" Answer honestly and let the ego step aside.

What a perfect time to be practicing our new pose of the week...humble warrior!

This pose may seem scary at first, after all, you are folding forward with both hands behind your back. Trust your core and leg strength, it will hold you! If your balance is a little shaky, simply heel toe your front foot outwards to get a wider base. See the full scoop on this pose below:

The audio version:

As you dive into a new week, new pose and a new season, remember to let go of the things in your life that no longer serve you. Go easy on yourself this week, make your mind space a safe place. Allow it to be a judgement-free zone and know that there is no such thing as perfect.

We are not perfect human beings, nor do we have to pretend to be, but it is necessary for us to be the best version of ourselves.

pose of the week: reverse warrior

Welcome back to a whole new week of posing. Last week, we worked our balance with warrior III (how did you like it? did you challenge yourself?) and we hope you saw the beauty & benefit of the whole warrior series + why they're so important to your yoga practice.

We're actually continuing on this week with more warrior action, but in the form of reverse!

The reverse warrior helps build strength in our legs and also helps open up the chest + shoulders, just to name a few benefits. It is highly recommended that you warm up before trying this posture. You can ease into this by starting your day with our February Bonus of Month video. There is no trick to this pose you simply find the stretch in your side body and stay there. If your breath ever becomes shortened, you know you've gone to far. Find the place between ease and effort where your inhales and exhales can flow freely. Live in that place throughout your entire yoga practice and throughout life :).

Check out the pose details below and don't forget to use the audio to guide you into the pose safely.

Have a wonderful week of practice and we look forward to sharing more with you next week!

pose of the week: warrior III

You made it to month 3! Welcome to a whole new month of poses :) How did February go for you? Are you starting to get the hang of the poses and how to link them together safely? Are you using the bonus of the month videos to help you warm up? Let us know what is working best for you :)

We are continuing on this month with our final warrior pose! And we promised you that you'd love the way these poses feel, especially now that we are introducing Warrior III - a pose that literally has the ability to make you feel like you can fly! :)

We knew that you'd love the warrior set of poses and warrior III is no exception. This pose has the added benefit of allowing you to work on balance and building strength all at the same time. Warrior III is a little more of a difficult pose to set up for and we suggest either using crescent lunge or tree pose to transition in to it, these poses help set you up for success. Let's look at the pose more closely:

Listen to the audio below and let us help guide you safely into this pose:

Now that you have a better idea of how to get into Warrior III, let's get warmed up and follow along with the February bonus of the month video! Enjoy this week and we'll see you next Sunday!
