pose of the week: crescent lunge

Welcome to a fabulous new month, which means a new month of fabulous poses! <---Our creative juices were REALLY flowing there ;).

So this month will be a liiiiiiittle different from how we kicked January off. There will be no calendar in advance to see what you'll be rocking each week, but we like to think of it as a perk. The awesome perk of excitement and curiosity! (Don't worry...curiosity didn't kill the yogi!)

Feel free to guess in the comments below this post what you think will be next in the line-up...which could turn into a fun yoag52 game!

For now, let's get to this week's pose:

If you remember back to last week's low lunge, it was a handy little pose to prep you for this week's!

What to do with the new pose:

  • Add it onto your January 52 flow sequence (aka the last four poses we worked on)
  • Review the recommendations for how to perform Days 1 through 7 (if you're still feeling stuck)
  • Add it into your already awesome morning yoga routine!
  • Use the audio to help you flow through it!

Have a fun week of practice and we look forward to seeing you back here next week!

pose of the week: low lunge

Can you believe that we're almost through the first month of poses?? I hope you've been enjoying the process so far and getting into a regular routine. (Do mornings or nights work better for you?)

Let's recap quickly: we've gone from tree pose to eagle pose to chair pose and now we're moving on to the last pose this month, which is:

low lunge

Low lunge is a great addition to the poses we already used this month. It is easily added into any sequence ("sequence" aka when we link poses together) and spoiler alert we will be featuring low lunge in February's Bonus of the Month video!

To ensure you are doing this pose correctly, make sure you download the PDF above and also use the audio to help guide you through safely. Remember we highly encourage you to start off your practice using the Half Sun Salutation video and then from there moving into your low lunge (it'll take you about 5- 10 minutes).

Once you've conquered the low lunge, we want you to try out our January 52 Flow video! This video links together all the poses you've been working on this month. How exciting is that?!!!

And as always, let us know how you are feeling! Do you want more information? Less information and more videos? What's been working for you? Contact us here and share your feedback.

pose of the week: chair pose

Welcome to our third pose! We started the movement off with tree pose, and from there went to eagle pose and now we're moving onto...

chair pose

So you don't have to worry about your balance quite as much this week! You are welcome ;).

Once you read through how to do the pose (by clicking the button above), use the additional audio below as you get into position to perform it. (Just for additional help + support because we got yo' back!)

We introduced the bonus of the month video for January last week, so if you're using it (how's it going??), we encourage you to keep doing it into this week as well! Remember: this bonus video is to help you start connecting movement to breath - the essence of yoga.

We've actually created a separate page for the bonus videos, so make sure you check it out.

Let us know how this week goes and what this pose does for you! It's all about connecting with yourself on an inner/deeper level and seeing what it means to you, so happy practicing! And make sure to stay social with us because we always love hearing from you!

pose of the week: eagle pose + bonus of the month video

Welcome to the second week of the yoga52 movement! How did the first week go? Was tree pose a great intro/starter? We hope so :) This week you're getting two-for-one: the pose of the week PLUS our bonus of the month video! The bonus video is to help you learn to connect movement with breath, which is essentially what yoga is.

We didn't want to wait any longer to introduce it just because it's very important to start recognizing when to breathe in and breathe out through the poses. So take the time to learn the pose of the week and take a look at our bonus video for January below (along with how we recommend you incorporating it).

If you already have the January calendar, then you should know what pose is coming next. But if you haven't peeked ahead, it's...

pose of the week: eagle pose

We move into a bit more challenging terrain. Remember last week how we mentioned balance being a crucial element to yoga? Well, here's the proof!

try this

Click below and follow along with the audio version as you get into the pose!

a helpful (beginner's) hint:

Whichever leg you have crossed over top, the arm from that side is crossed underneath. So, left leg crosses overtop right leg, and left arm crosses underneath right arm.

january bonus of the month: half sun salutation

This bonus video, like we mentioned, is to connect breath with movement. Here are our suggestions for adding it into your daily practice:

So once you've performed a basic "go to" move, then move onto the bonus of the month, and finish up with eagle pose!

We hope you enjoy this week!
